Marvel Sets Come to Magic Online

Date: 05/19/2026

By The Magic Online Team

Dozens of the most iconic characters in the Marvel multiverse assemble on Magic Online for the first time next month!

  • All of your favorites from Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel's Spider-Man (set code SPM) debut after downtime - approximately 12 noon Pacific time (19:00 UTC) - on Tuesday, June 16.
  • The summer’s blockbuster expansion, Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel Super Heroes (set code MSH), will follow up one week later on Tuesday, June 23

Be sure to follow our social media outlets (DiscordBlueSky and more) to keep real-time tabs on these two releases.

We’ll provide our normal set articles in a few weeks (June 12 for SPM & June 16 for MSH) on MTGO.com, but here are the main highlights to know now:

Past the Omenpaths

Through the Omenpaths boosters will be taken off the virtual shelf once Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel's Spider-Man goes on sale, at which point cards from both sets will coexist in our game’s ecosystem.

This will represent a first for a regular Magic Online expansion: cards with different names but identical functionality that are treated by deck-construction and gameplay rules as though they have the same name. For example:

  • You can have no more than four total copies of The Soul Stone and The Terminus of Infinity in a Constructed deck/sideboard.
  • If you name or choose The Soul Stone for an effect, it will affect The Terminus of Infinity and vice versa.
  • If you gain control of both The Soul Stone and The Terminus of Infinity, the legend rule will require you to choose which one to keep.

The identical nature of the two sets also applies to text searches and filtering, so searching for The Soul Stone in your collection will show any copies of The Terminus of Infinity that you have as well.

The Next Chapter

Keep an eye out for our set articles in a few weeks where we’ll lay out the plan for events, Treasure Chests, Player Rewards, Avatars, and more. Until then, we’ll see you on the battlefield!
