DAYBREAK GAME COMPANY APPOINTS FORMER ELECTRONIC ARTS EXECUTIVE LARRY LAPIERRE AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF GAMES

SAN DIEGO – Mar. 24, 2016 – Daybreak Game Company LLC has named Larry LaPierre, an industry veteran with nearly two decades of experience developing AAA interactive entertainment, as its new senior vice president of games.

As Daybreak recently celebrated its first anniversary as an independent developer and publisher, we’re continuing our aggressive pursuit of top-tier talent and leadership to capitalize on our greatest successes,” said Russell Shanks, President of Daybreak Games. “We are, and always will be, a company based on people with a shared love of gaming at their core. Larry’s extensive expertise and passion for games will be critical to ensuring the quality and competitiveness of our gaming offerings in the years to come.”

LaPierre’s lengthy career includes nearly 14 consecutive years as a director, producer and, ultimately, vice president at Electronic Arts, where he was responsible for multiple releases in the SSX and Need for Speed franchises, as well as Skate 3 and the PlayStation® adaptation of the original Diablo. He joins Daybreak Games after serving as general manager at Zynga, and, prior to that, president and managing director of product at mobile loyalty and rewards platform company Wyley Interactive, which he co-founded.

It is an exciting time to be taking on this new role at Daybreak,” said LaPierre. “The company’s proven leadership in massive online gaming, community oriented development, and burgeoning of new business models have created a platform for long-term success. With a primary, near-term focus on growing the newest Daybreak franchise, H1Z1, I look forward to pushing the boundaries of emergent gameplay and expanding on the competitive experience.”

The move follows another recent major hire for Daybreak: the appointment of Chris Wynn – formerly senior development director on BioWare’s upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda, development director of several games in the EA Sports family, and a lead producer of Microsoft’s Gears of War series – as executive producer of H1Z1®. Wynn will spearhead the production of Daybreak’s post-apocalyptic online multiplayer action franchise, which recently spun off into two separate titles: the high-intensity, PVP spectacle H1Z1: King of the Kill™ and the zombie-filled, open world-focused H1Z1: Just Survive™.
