DAYBREAK GAMES NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2016 GAMERS IN REAL LIFE SCHOLARSHIP

Annual Competition Returns to Offer $10,000 and Paid Internship Opportunity to Outstanding Video Game Design Student

SAN DIEGO - May 9, 2016 - Daybreak Game Company LLC (Daybreak Games) is now accepting applications and submissions for its 2016 Gamers in Real Life (G.I.R.L.) scholarship competition. As part of the program, now in its ninth year, the worldwide video game developer and publisher will award one winner with a $10,000 scholarship to be applied towards tuition, room and board, and/or other educational expenses at his or her college or university.

“As a company, we’re always looking ahead to the next wave of talent and innovation, and we recognize that starts with education and opportunity,” said Laura Naviaux, Chief Publishing Officer at Daybreak Games. “For nearly a decade, we’ve been proud to provide aspiring game designers, artists, and programmers a path towards a career in game development and a chance to live out their dreams of working in this exciting and dynamic industry. We’re very excited to learn more about this year’s hopefuls.”

In addition to the scholarship prize, the winner will also be offered a paid internship for up to eight weeks at Daybreak Games’ new headquarters in San Diego, where he or she will be paired with a mentor and work hands-on alongside professionals from multiple backgrounds within the company. The internship will provide invaluable real-world growth and experience with guidance and feedback, as well as a chance to expand the candidate’s personal and professional network within the industry.

The Gamers in Real Life scholarship is open to any legal resident of the United States 18 years of age or older at the time of entry currently enrolled at an accredited school in an undergraduate or graduate program pertaining to video games, including those related to video game art, design, animation, production, programming or visual effects. The individual must have an average GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), and may not be scheduled to graduate before the end of the 2017 spring term to be eligible.

Submissions for the 2016 Gamers in Real Life scholarship will close on June 3, 2016.
