Spotlight On Daybreak’s Summer Intern

Since today is #NationalInternDay, we wanted to highlight our awesome summer intern in the Communications and Marketing department. Let’s take a look at what it’s like being a Daybreak intern!

Meet Tanya

What first interested you in an internship at Daybreak?

I previously interned with a video game company in the Bay Area last year, and was looking for a change of scenery and a new place to learn. I really enjoy the laid-back, yet hard-working environment that the video game industry offers. I found Daybreak to the perfect fit because I get to explore sunny San Diego, and contribute to some exciting things that Daybreak has coming soon!

What sort of projects are you doing as an intern?

I’ve been able to help out in organizing some big events we have coming up, monitor media coverage for Daybreak and the gaming industry, keep an eye out for influencers and gain lots of experience that helps me develop my PR and communications skills. I’ve enjoyed being able to help coordinate Daybreak’s events – it makes you appreciate how much work goes into making them happen!

What do you find interesting being in the video game industry?

I think it’s interesting to see all the companies that everyone comes from and where they go to. The video game industry experiences a lot of interchangeability and many people here have come from other high-profile gaming/tech companies. This means that everyone has a vast amount of experience that I can learn from!

If someone was considering a Marketing/Communications internship at Daybreak, what advice would you give them?

Do it! The video game industry is a very exciting place to be – and very unique as well! If you’re looking for an opportunity to learn and gain experience, Daybreak has an friendly environment with people who are happy to help you!

What do you think is the coolest part of the Daybreak San Diego Studio?

I love the huge downstairs break room! It’s always stocked with coffee, absolutely essential for me, and yummy food so I can snack to my heart’s content!
